Crescent Beach State Park

Maine's beaches are famous for their beautiful views, historic lighthouses and scenes of lobster fishing. There is no better way to enjoy Maine's beaches than at Crescent Beach State Park, a little-known mile stretch of sandy beach just South of Portland.
Features of Crescent Beach State Park
Crescent Beach State Park is a mile of curved shoreline that is perfect for swimmers, sunbathers, nature watchers and sea kayakers. This idyllic beach boasts soft sand, rocky shelves and sandy dunes. Because of the typically low surf, it is ideal for swimming and boating. Fishing is also permitted on site. The park also features trails suited for hiking during the summer and cross-country skiing in winter. For folks who do not want to get sand in their food, the park offers picnic areas. There is a small food service area for those who prefer to skip the picnic packing.
Finding the park
Crescent Beach State Park is located eight miles South of Portland, between the towns of Wells and Moody. Just follow Route 77 in Cape Elizabeth. The beach is very reasonably priced. Adult Maine residents pay only $4.50 for a day of fun and sun, while out-of-state visitors are charged an extra two dollars.
Affordability and ease of access make Crescent Beach State Park a popular destination year-round. Those who only take advantage of the park during the summer months are missing out on beautiful ski trails and wildlife-watching opportunities. For a day of clean, safe beach access, Maine's Crescent Beach State Park is an excellent choice.
