Lake St. George State Park

Lake St. George State Park is a lovely scenic lake and a favorite fisherman's getaway amongst the many state parks in Maine. Located in southwestern Waldo County, Lake St. George State Park is a relatively small park that abuts the lake itself. Lake St. George State Park offers picnic areas with grills at your disposal. Kayak, canoe, paddle boat and rowboat rentals are available for a nominal fee. Summertime means the popular beach area is hopping, but do not worry; the area is staffed by a lifeguard for visitor safety. Play a game of horseshoes or beach volleyball too. There is overnight camping available at one of the 38 different sites for those seeking a weekend getaway.
Hiking and fishing
Across from Lake St. George State Park are miles of hiking trails for all levels of fitness. The lake itself offers abundant fishing opportunities. It is stocked with brook trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, salmon, white and yellow perch and even American eel. If you need a break, there is an ice cream parlor offering refreshments. There are a few stores close to the park to buy any missing items that are not packed up with the camping gear, or just to get a little sweet treat.
Lake St. George State Park is a lovely oasis from summer heat. The whole family can enjoy a dip in the cool water or a hike through the rich wooded areas surrounding the park. Rent a paddle boat for some exercise, then enjoy an ice cream cone after a long day. There is something for everyone at Lake St. George State Park.
