About the park

Lily Bay State Park occupies a sizable 925 acres on the shore of Moosehead Lake. As the name suggests, moose do frequent this area, although they stay away from campgrounds. From beautiful nature hikes through the Maine woods to swimming and bird watching, there are many recreational activities available at Lily Bay State Park.

Cast a line

Fishing is one of the most popular activities at the park. Moosehead Lake is an angler's paradise, well-stocked with togue, brook trout and salmon. The deep waters allow the fish to grow to impressive sizes. During the winter, it is not uncommon to see ice fishing shacks out on the lake as well.

Visit Sugar Island

One of the more interesting places to stop in in Lily Bay State Park is Sugar Island. It is the largest island in Moosehead Lake. Travel time is about five minutes by boat, and once there visitors are able to explore a pair of resident camps constructed in the 1910s.
