Rangeley Lake State Park

How do you envision your perfect Maine vacation? Whether you see yourself swimming with the kids or just kicking back with your fishing pole, Rangeley Lake State Park offers the ideal vacation setting. Set on almost 900 acres in the picturesque mountains of western Maine, this park is the perfect summer retreat for family adventures.

Wet and wild

The centerpiece of the park is, of course, Rangeley Lake, a fisherman's paradise. The lake is famous for first-class salmon and trout fishing, so you can relate plenty of fish stories when you get home. Fish from the shore or bring along the boat; motorboats are welcome here, and there is plenty of water to explore by canoe, too. After a long day angling in the sun, cool down with a swim in Rangeley Lake's pristine waters. The water is cool even in the summer, but you know the kids do not mind.

On shore

If you do not have a boat, do not worry! The wilderness around the lake offers ample opportunities for summer recreation. Take in nature with a hike on one of the trails in the park or nearby. Wildlife is abundant, and this is a great park for birdwatching. Take a break and enjoy a picnic at one of the park's designated picnic areas before you continue on your way.

Plan your trip

Rangeley Lake State Park is open from May to October, though snowmobiling and winter sports are permitted in the winter. Camping is available, and reservations are accepted and recommended. Admission is under five dollars per adult, though additional fees apply for camping and the use of boat ramps.

With something for everyone, Rangeley Lake State Park is an ideal family getaway, and it is as affordable as it is beautiful. Escape the heat and the crowds, and enjoy Maine's wonderful western wilderness!
