Two Lights State Park

Established in 1961, Two Lights State Park stands eight miles to the south of Portland in southern Maine. This park consists of 41 acres and has a $3 day-use fee for adult Maine residents. Senior Maine residents receive free admission, adult non-residents pay $4.50 and the charge for senior non-residents is $1.50. The fee is $1 for children 5-11, and kids under that age get in for free.

Park history

Two Lights State Park is named after twin lighthouses that date back to 1828. The western light is now a private home, and the eastern light is an automated station with a light visible from a distance of 17 miles. Neither lighthouse is open to tourists, but visitors can examine the remnants of a coastal-defense installation from World War II that still stand in the park.
